I just got a 98 Vert and none of my DIC buttons are functioning. Where do I begin? I’m sure I could check the passenger floorboard first for loose/bad connections but which wires would I be looking for if that is the case? Previous owner attempted to install a power amp and subwoofer with no success so I’m wondering if he screwed something up trying to do that. I don’t want to just go in uneducated and half cocked and tearing everything apart that may not need to be. Doesn’t appear to be a major fix but I just don’t know what to do. It has a couple of other issues I would need to take it to the dealer for but I would kind of like to take care of as much myself as possible.
I tried looking through the manual to see if fuses could play a part in this but I couldn’t come to a clear deduction either way on that.
your Dic buttons are not working because one or more of your buttons have lost their spring and have caused the chip in the dash to go bad.
Your fix ( you are not going to like this) is to replace the dash because that chip is not available and can not be replaced. when you find a dash be sure to get the buttons with it as yours are bad
I have to replace the whole dash? Not just the buttons themselves? That seems a bit overkill. Because I can buy another DIC button assembly to put in.
If that’s the only reason for them failing. That’s not as much of a big deal. Rest of the dash works fine.
