So long story short I have part of a 03 GS C5 swapped into my s10. I have most things worked out but can't seem to get the illumination to work. I have scrapped most systems but I do have the ecm, bcm and ipc. I cannot even tell if the trigger is an input to the ipc directly (tried powering and grounding multiple pins related to the lighting system and the best I got was B17 getting 12v flashed illumination for just a second) or if the bcm is supposed to trigger it over the can ( I know it's an older protocol) network.
Any ideas how to force it to light up? I still have the light system through the s10 so not ready to fully swap over. I was able to patch in the left and right turn signals straight in.
If I can't figure out how to trick it, I think my next step is try to figure out how to just power the HV supply for the uv bulbs or put in my own.
And yes I know it's a silly project but so far I'm enjoying it.
Do you have the dimmer and DIC switches? I know dimmer puts data on serial line, and DIC switch has a light sensor. I also don't think the backlight will come on in a bright area? Not sure exactly how it all works, so this is just me guessing. With lights off if you cover up the sensor during the day the DIC and MPH/KPH lights will get dim. Maybe some of these docs can help. Not sure how the inverter is controlled from the IPC but if you can probe it, maybe just gets a 12v and pwm for brightness that you can fake?
