Traction control seems to kick in a bit too easily on the track, even with fully warmed up 200tw tires and very aggressive camber settings. Is this something that a tuner can adjust or is disabling TC my only option? Pretty annoying to have power cut when rolling on the throttle after a long sweeper.
On track, I often feel the antiskid helping when I am braking a bit too hard. I don't mind, especially in the rain. Only two tires in the dirt in 12 years. None in the mud.
But if you are getting random asymmetrical braking, that is another matter.
TC is cutting power / killing timing when I start to roll on the throttle towards the tail end of long flat turns, even while in a higher gear (50-60 mph in 3rd gear). Tried to find a video but it's kind of hard to tell when it happens. Did some more reading and apparently the whole traction control system was revised in 2001 to make it less sensitive. Guess I'll have to either live with it or just turn it off.
Mine did that in three sessions one track day. I put it in competitive driving for several sessions and it quit, even after going back to normal mode for the next five years so far. Since you don't have competitive driving mode, I would try turning it off for a session or two, then back on to see if it still exhibits the symptom.
I think it is also worth having a discussion with someone who can program the PCM to see if they can adjust.
In the off mode be more conscious of power oversteer out of a turn and trailing throttle understeer in hard trailing braking into a turn. That was what got the two wheels in the dirt six years ago at Laguna Seca in competitive driving mode.
Im not sure mine would kick on very easy with the old tires on bump roads or on ramps with bumps. After having dropped the torque tube for rebuild and unplugging a bunch of stuff it stopped having that issue. I did have two mismatching brand but same size tires on the rear. It didnt kick on until the other day on the onramp i had throttled it fully engaged and killed the throttle vs spinning.
Im not sure if there is something in the tune adjustable either. I did have it dynotuned after it would spin very easy with cam headers with traction control on.
I think he was talking about the traction control “button”, not the magnetic ride “selector.”
The traction control button has various settings of “turning off“ assists.

My 04 gave me fits even in comp mode. Once I got the hang of the car, it was nothing but an impediment. Digging out of a slow corner or cresting a hill up in 3rd mid corner the car would just lay down. That was with fairly fresh 200 NT05s. And 2 off in 12 years? If you ain't in the dirt, you ain't tryin!

Right. Competitive mode is only available if the vehicle is equipped with the JL4 option, which mine isn't. So my only options are TCS on or off.
So- just be cautious with it off until you get used to the handling. Work up to faster exits slowly. Lack of caution was what got the two wheels in the dirt six years ago at Laguna Seca in competitive driving mode.
On the other hand, as I approach 78, no one passed me first session in May at AMP in my 21 year old stock HP C5 A4. I like to think I am finally getting the hang of it. It takes time and practice. And a 3.73 rear drive with WaveTrac.
Looking toward year 13 on track- the number on the car changes to 78 in September.
