Ruined rear diff cover?

Default Ruined rear diff cover?
So trying to resolve the infamous leaky butt and replace my driver's side axle seal, but I managed to gauge the inside of the cover with the seal puller. Did I ruin it? Naturally, I don't want to put it all back together and still have a leak.

First blend it with a file or the like, then put a blob of silicone there upon reassembly. I like the black stuff.

I think you can get that smooth and fill it with JB weld and then sand it smooth again
