Just purchased a 2000 C5 10k miles. Unbelievable car. Its bone stock just curious as what mods to start with first. I've read some threads on the cheapo air box mod and aftermarket kits. Seems like the cheap mod gains about the same as the $500 kits, any thoughts???
Intake and exhaust is a good start.
There is usually some debate on which intake provides the most increase, but it's really subjective. They're all pretty close to one another IMHO.
Thanks, I think I'll try cutting my lid and give that a shot. All that I've read indicates that that a Vortex or Vararam give slight gains if any over just cutting the lid and popping in a k/n. It wont be driven in the rain, so not worried about the water issue. I'll apply the cash I save to a good exhaust, any recommendations?

:iagree:
Astetically, not the best mod, but pretty effective. If you are just looking for results, you are not going to beat cutting the box. If you want a pretty good looking and effective intake that is not overly priced, the Blackwing is a pretty good mod. You can check some pictures out on our web site or in the CF mall.
If you have any other questions about what to do about your car, post away or drop me a line.

On a 2000 model, you can either look for the sticker in the glovebox, or pull the center cover in the "trunk" and look on the backside of the cover for the codes. You would be looking for G92. If you have that RPO code then at least your modding won't be totally in vain. If you don't have the 3.15s, then you might want to consider upgrading the rearend as your first mod.
I agree with intake. I have the halltech tric air system and I love it. Like all the other intake it has what they say the hp gain is they say it is 30hp. I don't know if that is correct cause I din't dyno it after just that one mod. I did however feel a significant change in response, and the sound was changed also. I love it and recomend it to anyone. :steering:
