I have a 2003 C5 Lingenfelter with the 383 conversion. My question is : what weight oil does everyone use in there C5. Factory calls for 5W30W, Mine has been using 5W50W. Any comments or suggestions. Everything Ive read states that the 5W50W can be used but let the engine get warm before driving it hard.

If it's a genuine LPE motor, I'd call them and ask for recommendations. What better source of recommendation can you get, than one from the people who built it? Also, I've never heard of 5w-30w, or 5w-50w oil. In my area, it's always advertised as 5w-30, or 5w-50. As for 5w-50, I've never seen a 5w-50 oil. Again, going by what I've actually seen in my area. My personal recommendation would be 0w-40 Mobil 1, or any brand name 0w-40 oil. But I'd take an LPE recommendation over mine any day. I have a built LS7 in my C5, and 0w-40 is all I've run in it.......

20W-50 can be used in a warm climate. Still, 50 weight oil is usually reserved for racing applications due to the internal heat and looser clearances.
I agree with grinder…give Lingenfelter a call and ask for their advice.
