Default Rear trunk release switch

I would like to add a trunk release switch to my 1998 Corvette coupe along with the trunk release switch located in the dash and the remote button on the remote to open trunk from outside, similar to the C7 trunk release. I would like to locate it an area near plate and backup lights. Anyone know if this is possible?

Why would you want to do that, as somebody could find it and be able to get inside, the C7 probably requires the remote to be present, the C5 doesn't have that capability.

if the car is locked and you reach in to hit the trunk button on the dash, I think it will set off the alarm? (I don't want to try lol, it's 10 pm here...)

Up to OP if that is an acceptable risk. But if the alarm goes off with another button in parallel to the dash button it is a minor deterrent I suppose.

If the passive remote is turned on it will unlock (and disarm?) without pushing any buttons.
