I have a '98 and put new tires on the front appox. 1yr. ago and the inside of both front tires are wearing alot more than the rest of the tire. There is alot of tread on the tires except the most inward 2-3 inches of the tires. I had the front end aligned when the tires were mounted. Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas???

I had this problem on my 2000 Coupe. Inner rubber worn --- outside rubber was almost new. Alignment and balance were fine. Only thing you could do is demount the tires and switch the sides to even out the wear.
This is very interesting. I have noticed the same thing happening on the REARS of my 2003 and was going to post asking if anyone knows what is going on. Anyone know what's going on?

Do you have wear on one side or both sides of the tire??
Both sides indicates low tire pressure. Should have 30psi cold.
One side wearing on the rear is not good and you might have something bent in the suspension, or a really out-of-balance wheel.
Unfortunitaly once the tire wear has started there is no stopping it. Ck with dealer there is a bulletin out for revised specs and find someone with new state of the art aligner hunter digital camera. Problem stems from camber or toe HOPE THIS WILL HELP...
I am seeing more wear on the inside of both the right and left rear than I am seeing on the outside (noticed it while I was under the car drying things off after washing it). Nothing has happened to the car that would have resulted in damaged suspension. Also, I haven't done anything that would have put it out of alignment like hitting a pot hole, curb, etc. (unless hard cornering counts ;)
I don't thin kit's tire pressure as I would expect lot's of wear on bot the inside and the outside if the tires were underinflated

What else could it be but low tire pressure?? Both rear tires, inside and outside wear....... what are you runnin' PSI cold?? Is your tire guage accurate?? Curious how many miles you have on your rubber that you would notice uneven wear on a 2003.
If you had tire wear on 1 rear tire and on only 1 side, then you might have had something wrong in the mechanical realm.
If you had cupping on the tires, then maybe a balance problem.
I am only seeing more wear on the inside of both rear tires (no excess wear on the outside of the tires), and not that many miles. That's why it has me concerned.
I have a 99 Nassau Blue and saw inside front tire wear at 15,000 miles and had to replace the tires at 30,000.
This is clearly an alignment issue. If there is too much toe-in and too much negative camber for the driving speed you do the inside of the tires will wear. I had the toe in reduced to 1/16" and camber set to 0. The replacement tires are running and wearing even. They are Firestone Firehawk. Much quieter tire than Goodyear. I think if you get to a shop that can do alignment, not just read and dial in numbers they can help. Same for rear. If the puppy is set up right the tires will last. Besides who ever heard of wearing front tires our on a vet first.. I actually did it.. :mad
