My name is Kyle, Im 17 years old. I have been saving sence i was 10 to buy a sports car. I am about to be 18 years old, and after a few years of working, i have decided to buy a Corvette C5 base model. I have a big niche for Circut Racing, Time attack, and Autocross racing. I go to a Magnet school in las Vegas for Automotive Technology and I work at In and Out. My favorite Track is Road America at Elkhart Lake.I want to know what is reccomented to make an amazing circut car. I know suspension, areo dynamics, alignment, and weight are huge factors. what should i do first? what mods should be used? What should I Avoid? Thanks!
If you are on a budget which most people are, I would suggest the Spec Corvette https://www.speccorvette.com/pages/rules rules as a good guideline. The idea there was to go fast without spending big $. My car is set up this way although I don't compete with them, and I find it to perform very well and it is competitive against much more expensive cars when I am on track.
For your first car, and for learning, just put good track pads, fluid, and decent higher treadwear tires on the car and go practice. Dont change anything until you get a good consistent feel for the car.
