p1518 97 base auto 50k miles.
went for a cruise on a gorgeous fall day here in central ohio and p1518 came up on the dic. managed to limp into a parking lot and called my friend who is a career mechanic and also ls a racer for decades. told him what the dic said and he advised i try to start it up which i did and drive it home which i did and it ran as good as always. he told me to clean the throttle body real good with a good cleaner for throttle bodies and don't use the usual carb cleaner. he told me that 99 out of a hundred times it's a dirty throttle body. did that and also the maf sensor and cleared the code and went for a drive a couple times today and all is well and it seems to run much better since i cleaned that stuff up. some of the things i read on here about the dreaded p1518 scare the hell out of me and i told him that code was very scary to me. so far everything is good again and would like to hear if anyone had the same problem. btw my friend is a outstanding mechanic.

Great that you fix it. I do not remember the code but one day a few years ago I got the check engine light. I found some comments from others on this forum and like you, sprayed the throttle body and sensor with CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner. All has been good since and is now on my routine maintenance schedule.
