Hi guys . I have a C5 with a minor lower oil pan leak. It’s nothing major but just annoying. Since I don’t want to go throw the labor expense of dropping the cradle, etc. I tried all kinds of crap, jb weld, permatex spray, silicone with not much success. Seems it will stop a leak in one spot but find another area to seep out. My question is does anyone have a method they have tried and worked without replacing to gasket? I know some of the oil additives, which I have also tried, do not really address the oil pan gasket. Any advice or help would be appreciated. BTW I have owned it for three years and was already seeping, 130,000 mi.
Is it the two piece oil pan design and the lower portion is leaking? If so, you don't need to remove anything other than the lower portion and replace the gasket. Almost as easy as an oil change.
Yes I believe it is…upper and lower design and the lower gasket is leaking. I thought that I was told and/or read somewhere that the front cradle had to be dropped to gain full access to the pan as the cross member is in the way.

if you need to replace the upper oil pan gasket that seals the oil pan to the block the cradle is certainly in the way and would have to be removed. If it is the lower oil pan gasket you have very easy access to all those bolts and can be done in 30 minutes during your next oil change. If this is your leak point that’s a win. Cheap gasket, easy access, and no trouble to do.
Thank you for your help. Upon review unfortunately I believe it is upper gasket leaking not the batwing. Oh well. Guess ill have to just deal with it as is. I’ll ask my local shop for an estimate but I know this is a labor intensive job
