Default Identifying Kooks header generation

I bought a used set of Kooks LT headers that are stepped 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" and I was looking to buy some x pipes for them next. Is there a way to identify if these are their updated or redesigned headers? Or will a new set of x-pipes fit both versions? And I'm trying to prepare for how much of a headache I have during installation because I heard the originals are a PITA

Thank you all

I have an old set of Kooks 1 7/8s mated to an older Kooks off road xpipe and fit was perfect. Thinking the Kooks xpipe of today would mate the same way. Not much to an xpipe design. So if it's Kooks LTs mated to Kooks xpipe you should be good. The design change to the headers from early gen to current changed the install method (from the top or the bottom) but xpipe mounts the same.

You can give Kooks a call to confirm. I've called them for questions and they pick right up.

If your Kooks have the 2 bolt flanges, they are the "old" style. I just talked to Kooks about this a couple weeks ago. They changed the design around 2013, and they're easily distinguished from the early style in that they use a 3 bolt flange. Unfortunately, nobody at Kooks could remember exactly how the older style installs, or removes!! A member was more helpful, still had his original instructions, and sent me a copy of them for installing the old style LTs. If you PM me your email or cell, I'll try to Fwd them.......

2 bolt flanges where the x pipe meets the exhaust? Or where the header meets the x pipe?
Most Kooks headers ive seen dont have flanges at the header, instead a clamp.
Im looking at some used sets, and trying to determine

Where the header meets X-pipe. On the Kooks C5 headers I've seen, the header collector has a large male/external radiused end, and this mates to a matching female/internal radius on the X-pipe. Then there's 2 tightening plates/collars, 1 on the header, and one on the X-pipe. You put a bolt thru each of the holes, and put a lock washer and nut on the end of the bolt, then tighten the nuts. I've never had an exhaust leak with this setup, ever. I can only relay the info Kooks relayed to me. Perhaps some of the headers you're talking about either weren't Kooks, or they weren't for a C5. IDK, I only know what Kooks told me.

Absolutely correct, ball and socket union. Mine are the old style 2 bolt flange, it works fine and I can rotate the flanges so they do not point down decreasing ground clearance.
