Can’t paste links at the moment, but if you google “c6 brakes on c5” the first corvette forum reference is on this exact question. Info on that thread notes that the base c6 brakes are the same size as the c5, and that the c6 z06 are the increased diameter you are looking for - although with consequences, such as bigger wheels to clear bigger brakes.

Base C6 and all C5 have the same brake dimensions. C6 calipers are slightly stiffer but not really noticeable.

C6 Z51 have 0.5" larger front rotors and 1" larger rear rotors. They use the same calipers in front with a bracket to offset them more to clear the larger rotor. The Rear calipers have a different bracket as well as a smaller piston to maintain proper bias with the larger increase in rotor size.

C6 Z06 use 1" larger front rotors and 1.4" larger rear rotors and completely different calipers front and rear.

If you want to get larger rotors on the front, just look for C6 Z51 caliper brackets and use your existing caliper with the 13.4" rotors.

May I ask why you want the larger rotor? The 0.5" increase is negligible and wont really get you anything other than harder to find rotors. Its such a low production oddball size most of the good performance rotor companies dont carry them.

If u must know, i put c5 brakes on my c4, and i can hardly tell much difference.
the thing i noticed the most is a longer wearing pad, more even wearing pad, more even stops,
and probably due to the pad i have on it, good cold braking.
i bought the Z51 pads with the idea of more pad area, and with the enhanced area of braking surface, i anticipate noticeable brake enhancement.
i did not realize the Z51 totor is larger in diameter until i went to install them, and the pad is hanging off the rotor by a quarter inch.
that would suggest a half inch diameter larger rotor would work fine.
my car uses 4 18”

rear wheels from a couple 2002 C5’s so larger rotors is not a problem.
if the rotor touches the caliper, i can just make new adapter plates with the mounting holes 1/8” to 1/4” farther out.
tires are all 275/40/18

Just replace the abutment bracket with the C6 Z51 version and you can use those rotors. The pad area of C5/C6/C6 Z51 is all the same

Which pads are you running? A better pad might get you the improvement you desire for a lot less work and money. EBC Red Stuff offer amazing -- although rotor dirtying -- grip. Others tout alternate pads.

New pads are friction performance.
haven’t installed them yet because the C5 rotors are too small in diameter.

New pads in original calipers overlap the edge of original rotors? That should not be possible. What are we missing here?

Car is reassembled, it’s a daily driver, so put it back together and no pics.
when i get new rotors, will take pics, so you can see the problem.
for now, tapered the edge of the old brake pads with a coarse file so they don’t wear over the edge of the old rotors

Following this for the outcome...

I'm not sure how this is even possible. Did you install Z51 brackets without the larger rotor?

If you are installing the C5 Z51 front brakes on the C5, the C6 Z51 front caliper mounting bracket #88964166. Do NOT buy the cross driller front 13.4" [340mm] front rotors that came from GM with the C6 Z51 brakes. I would recommend a solid rotor like the Centric #125.62086.

Good luck finding blanks in that size. I spent months shopping for C6 Z51 blanks - they are out of stock everywhere or non-existent. Even rotors listed as "blanks" were in fact drilled. Had to go with DBA 4000 slotted rotors at $180/each.

I did C6Z51 brackets & rotors on my C5z, kept the C5z calipers. The rotors are ebay special chinesium(Brake Motiv as I recall), around $200 for a set of 4 iirc. Drilled, slotted, look cool and actually have held up great. I would not do anything more than auto-x on them though. I looked the other day and did not see them on ebay anymore.

Same. I ordered some "blanks" from Rock Auto for the rear of my car cause I needed something quick and they showed up drilled. Im going to get some DBA rotors from KNS for next year.
