97 TPMS replacement

So it’s time to do 4 wheels and TPMS while I’m in there. From reading here it shows 97 had an odd ball TPMS. The modern replacement is Schrader 28006 . From what tire rack says this is the go to.

from reading here to program I just need a strong magnet to activate learn mode on the sensor and use the DIC. Is this correct? Locally I’m being quoted 160$ OTD for 4 tires so I’d rather not pay another hour of labor to sync the TPMS.

I use an old round speaker magnet.Works every time.Most GOOD tire shops will do for free when you install the tires and sensors.

tire choice wanted 160$ for all 4 tires plus 128$ to programe all 4. I said no thanks.

another shop who does the rubber band tires on bro dozer pickups said 160 all 4 and includes TPMS programe. I just have to buy all 4 sensors from tire rack.
