After flushing my power steering repeatedly and checking my alignment, tire pressure etc, etc Find myself left with factory steering feeling overtly heavy and not much sensitivity.
After reading CF articles on C4 LT1 style PS pumps the ability to lower steering effort with Caprice pump. Would a C5 not benefit from this as well? https://www.corvetteforum.com/articl...acement-Cheat/
Do you have the magnasteer dtc c1241? There is only one code for it... my car has it, bit heavy at low speed... noticeable but nothing like not having ps at all.
No I don't have Magnasteer and it's not on the code detail sheet but thanks for the reference about Magnasteer. The car just behaves heavy and takes more effort than smaller inputs should. At full speed it isn't As noticeable but it's still there. Like the pump pressure just doesn't live up to the inputs given. The rack doesn't leak and the pump hasn't been overheated or leaking. Nothing is "wrong" It just feels like the Engineers where told to take out some speed and sensitivity by the legal dept. That's why I asked about the PS Control valve to put back what was quite possibly "detuned" from the rack.
It's not an option... all c5 have it. I didn't know I had dtc until I tried to run the abs bleed routine. It only takes a minute or two to check the codes with dic. The c1241 I believe is under ebcm codes unless you have a 97 which has a separate module.
And if there is nothing wrong I heard the assist could be adjusted with tech-2 ... well this is hearsay at best but may be what you are looking for?
Ok That I didn't know. Thank you. I have bled the the system three times now and shows no codes. The feedback hasn't changed since I bought it coming on 5 yrs now.
Last year I replaced the old brake master cylinder and went thru the bleed DIC control procedure. Before that it didn’t have any codes or after but that doesn’t mean the PS is fully functional either. Just to be sure I’ll check again
All I'm after is a slight reduction in force of movement or less like a K2500 truck; just reduced effort but also, not as over assisted as an old Cadillac Deville either. It makes the car just feel a little "clumsy" at low speed

I had a phone call with a technical support representative from Turn One. He said that it didn’t match with Magnasteer issues but if the rack wasn’t leaking internally ( which can happen and not show up on the outside of the rack ) that the rack itself would be fine and the pump should be tested for low pressure
Factory pumps reportedly produce 1250 to 1350 psi at max.
Probably not something you'd be interested in, and I don't know the quality of the feel and function, but it is strikingly easy to replace the belt driven PS pump for a Volvo electric pump which maxes at 1500psi similar to the Turn One mid-range HP1 offering.
