driving with 17" rears & CCW front skinnies, the TC kicked in for a moment, just enough to slow me down, (felt like brakes were being applied for about 2-3 secs)...
I then let off the gas & hit the TC/AH button to take it off, and it didn't happen again..
When I had regular 18" tires on the front & the 17" on the rears, I never experienced this in regular driving.
I'm assuming this is due to the front skinnies being a little taller than the regular 18" tire.
I'm also assuming guys who drive with this set up, like to the track etc, take OFF the TC/AH to avoid this, right?
I don't think guys with the ET Streets front skinnies get this as they are taller than the rear 17" drag radial... Right?
Re: Traction Control kicked in @ 53 mph............ (Red98C5)
No, I was talking about when I would drive to the track with my normal 18" Pilots on the front & the 17" BFG drag radials on the rear... No problems there.
Only just now, with the front skinnies on, which I think are slightly, like maybe 1/4-1/2" taller than the 18" Pilots, did the TC come on..
Before when I would drive to the track, I wouldn't take the TC/AH off, so, now with the front skinnies on, I was wondering if thats why it kicked in....

More than likely your right. I would not try to compare and figure out why the apparently same situations don't effect the computer the same way. When I installed 3.42's from 3.15's the car through all sorts of codes. I've read that others have driven without computer adjustments and no codes. Not worth the time. It just is.
Re: Traction Control kicked in @ 53 mph............ (jfpilla)
I experience a similar problem. I think it is the 6 percent rule. The difference in the tire height b/w front and back can only be so great before the computer gets freaked out. Mine kicks in at 70 mph. My problem started beacause I run a 295/30/18 tire out back. I guess AH is reading the speeds of all the wheels and if the difference b/w the wheels is too high it thinks that the car has lost traction. (Just guessing) Since the skinnies are taller the computer thinks that the rears are spinning much to fast compared to the fronts. In your case 53mph is the point where the difference b/w the front and rear tire speeds has become to great and the computer thinks that the rears have lost traction.(Again, just guessing) I am sure the experts will chime in.
