Dash warning light
I'm new to this forum although I've owned my 6 speed C-5 since 2000. It is a dream to drive whether in city traffic or the open road. The only issue I've ever experienced is other drivers speeding up when they see me. (I'm convinced it happens to all Corvettes.). I am semi-retired and not really enjoying yet. I have more fun driving time, but I loved my work. I was fortunate to have great clients as an architect who became good friends. As a Development Manager (managing all the Design & Construction professionals on large scale resort, gaming and commercial projects) it was a thrill to work with such amazing talent and deliver noteworthy projects. I am a very fortunate person and very thankful for he opportunities afforded me.
In the last month a flashlight warning appeared. "Pull key, Rest 10 seconds." (This is a paraphrase since I saw the message this morning. Too long ago to remember exact wording.). What activity is causing the message to appear? Am I doing something as I start the car? Thanks!

What you are experiencing is a pretty common thing with our cars and a know "defect." The code you are getting is part of the anti theft system. Unfortunately the system is wrought with problems and has the potential to leave you stranded. Your anti theft system is designed to lock your steering wheel and at times not allow you to drive over 2mph. Often is is caused by an older battery with low voltage.
Fortunately there is a fool proof fix for about $50 and 30 minutes of install time. It is called the LCM5 and is a module installed in the fuse box area of your passenger side floor board.
Here is a video:
Order one here: http://www.complianceparts.com/
Install it yourself or have a pro do it in 20 minutes. Either way you will fix your problem permanently.
