Default Failed CA Emission Test

Good morning everyone and happy Monday
Yesterday I took my C5 down to have the SMOG check done so I can transfer into my name and the monitor for the catalyst and secondary air system were not ready
I have drove a bunch after the check valves were replaced and still not ready, I guess I have more driving to do? Does anybody have any experience with getting these monitors to be good to pass emissions testing in California?

Look about 7 posts down from this one and another CA member is having issues with his catalyst monitor to complete…have any current or pending DTC’s ??…if so the monitor will not complete…he also had some AIR issues…did you follow the recommended drive cycle ??…you will need a scan tool to look at your fuel trims…if fuel trims are plus or minus 4% the test might not run…follow step 2 below explicitly!!

No current or pending DTC. My work replaced both check valves, air pump, o2 sensors, & had the cats replaced a little under 1,000 miles ago. When I purchased the vehicle, the CEL was on and had a p1416 code. Cleared the light when i purchased the car about 300-400 miles ago and has not came back on. My registration is up here in two days so I have two days to get this mess sorted out

Look at those fuel trims if you didn’t read my edited post and follow that drive cycle outlined in step 2 !!…your work replaced all those parts for a P1416 ??…another thing is move to Florida !!…none of that emissions BS here !!

Check valves were clogged, air output from pump wasn't were it needed to be at, hooked up back pressure gauge and is supposed to be lower than 2psi and we were getting over 4 psi on the gauge so the cats were replaced due to that. Replaced both post cat o2 sensors due to p0161

OK, just follow step 2 and see what happens…the PCM runs a “passive” test of the AIR system when the car is first started (you’ll hear the pump run)…if the passive IM test doesn’t run it will do the “active” test as outlined in the 01 FSM above at speed.

Ok so update. Went on a nice drive yesterday morning, went to go get tested again and everything went good. I passed my emissions testing after what seemed like a never ending amount of drive cycles

Glad you passed.

My 99 just went for her final emissions test ever last week and passed with ease with, you know, maybe a few things turned off and other things not even present on the car...
