Default New Blackwing

I just ordered a Backwing filter for my 2003 Vette. I've seen some discussions about using an additional trim piece. What's that about? Did I make a mistake in only getting the filter?

I think you're referring to the hood seal, which sticks to the bumper lip, just inside the front edge of the hood. It keeps water from dripping on the Blackwing and keeps the engine bay a bit cleaner. Several of the forum vendors sell them.

You need to buy the coupler in order for the blackwing to fit :yesnod:

My Blackwing came complete with everything needed to mount it to a pre and post 2001. The different couplers were in the box with it.

I think it depends on where you purchased it from if the coupler will be included or not. I got mine from LAPD and it came with the coupler.

The "adapter" that some retailers charge around 15 bucks for is needed for install on the 2003's, I believe.

I just installed mine & the adapter was included. My system was purchased thru West Coast who is/or was running a "forum mall" deal for 419.95 for the B.W., w/ adapter & clamps, & a carbon fiber air bridge...(but no hood seal).
Not a bad deal !!!
Besides that they are twenty minutes from my office.
Good Luck.

Yes, you need the coupler. 2001-2003 needs this piece for the Blackwing to fit.
