Just purchased a 2003 zo 6. The dash lights are very dim during the day the **** does dim and brighten the dash but they are not bright enough in daylight does the light sensor on the defrost grill control this ?
Which lights specifically? If you are referring to the gauges, they are not backlit. They are basically front lit by 2 UV bulbs in the sides of the gauge pod. There is backlighting in the DIC, HUD/Dimmer , stereo, HVAC, trunk/hatch buttons, and door controls. The HVAC display is known for dimming out too. The gauge lighting is only on with the parking or headlights on.
The gauge lights , they are always on and the dimmer **** dims and brightens but seem to be in a night or lights on mode they don’t get brighter with lights off and daylight conditions very dim even though the dimmer is turned all the way up
It's the little "eye" right above the fuel DIC button
when the lights are off (daytime) I think it only really controls the dic and mph/kph light
...oh and hud if you have one... but not the uv lights, they are off during the day.
Thanks Elektro , I thought the gauges ( speedo, Tach , etc ) would be illuminated during daylight like my 2020 Tahoe and If I remember correctly my C6 Seems that gauge lighting is off in daylight like the older GM vehicles right ?

Correct. The gauges are only lit when the lights are on.
Also if you haven't noticed, look closely at the gauges you will see they are not backlit. They use UV reactive paint and there is a blacklight tube on each side of the gauge cluster. That is how they got the cool colors and even lighting despite the 3d effect of the gauges without the modern led technology we have today.
