Corvette rocker panel bonding adhesive
I need to glue one up on the lower frame rail smc fiberglass to the frame.
Someones had to have had to replace a rocker panel or messed with this type of stuff. Theres other panel bonds 3M panel bond for smc but pricey 50-100$
Someone told me fusor 148 was the correct adhesive is listed as the same part number as GMs.
Genuine GM Adhesive Plastic Bonder 12378568 | eBay
GM 12378568 Adhesive | eBay
I seen on one of the other corvette c5 projects its just 1" blob sections of a black tar type of glue or silicone that hardens and becomes adhesive or simply glues the rocker panel solid.
Is this structural urethane adhesive? And how do apply it make sure bond surfaces are clean of dirt and debris the lower frame rail and scuff sand the inner side of rocker panel before putting blobs of this adhesive along the lower portion fixing it to the bottom of the frame rail? How long of cure time before the clamps can be removed or whatever is used to hold the loose rocker up against the frame rail?

You are correct it is special stuff, May or not be available from GM anymore but once its properly identified Yes Lord fusor or 3M will have a product that will work.
Being that those parts are made from SMC I would think that it will be another product than what you posted but you never know till its looked up.

3M has panel bond but it is for smc fiberglass to metal frame. Mine also has a small crack. What're you using as a body filler or crack repair? One of them i looked up is for bonding panels cadillac xlr sideskirts to be specific from what i read not sure if its either of the two i posted.

I was going to use it on the Rocker and a crack in my quarter panel rather buying new.
69 Drifter is right we should be looking at the Corvette collision repair manual not just are repair manuals from Chevy.
The Collision manual should specify the correct materials for repairing SMC, I know what I have will work well I have used it before.
My Car is a 98 in Blue I am going to change the color to the Blue that was used on the 2004 Zo6 with the silver and red stripes with Paint not stickers.
Will you be painting your or will you farm it out?
To bond the rocker to the frame rail use adhesive GM P/N 89020330. for the 97 to 98>>>Use US Chemical and Plastics 82007B System 2000 Structural Adhesive, a PLIOGRIP® adhesive manufactured by Ashland Chemical Company, or equivalent. Note the 30 minute working time and 2.5 to 3 hour cure time.
