Ok soooo I know about the headlight motor situation in the c5 vettes. My question is, before i moved to florida from ny i had my mechanic replace both my motors with new stock plastic motors because i didnt have time to wait for brass to come in. They go up and down but when i put them down the motor keeps running and the grinding is killin me. Is there a way to adjust the motor to stop running after the lights are down? I do VERY little night driving but still…….killin me ya know.
the easy way is to open the motors and flip the plastic gear to the side where the teeth aren't chewed up. this is a free mod that'll get you by until you either get metal gears or new replacement motors.
how old are your motors that your mechanic put in? the gears should not have failed this quickly if they are relatively new...
I just heard something running just recently on my 2002 after the lights went off. Now i know what it is. If i had to guess I'd say it was my right one as it didn't open on first try for the first time recently then opened the next and rest of the times.
^ that is very odd for brand new motors. It sounds like maybe the stop bumpers are missing? See what happens when the brass gears come in and if the brand new plastic gear teeth are stripped
You can also use the manual adjusters. The one that keeps running: try turning the adjuster a little bit. I noticed I was able to get it to close softer and it stopped buzzing.
If you are missing any of the plastic bumpers, you can buy replacements from Rodney Dickmans website
