Had this been happening after the car had been tuned or just since it’s been cold out ??…either way I’d bring the car back to your tuner because he may have screwed something up…maybe an ECT sensor since you have to warm it up…is the MIL illuminated ??
2004 with cam, heads cai and full exhaust. On cold start
i have to warm it up for 5 minutes or it stalls when i put it in gear
Assuming an A4 car? My A4 is similar. I have to warm coolant to 80°, then its OK. It does need a tweak on the cold start tune. Not my tuners fault, because I asked him to remove a bit of fuel at cold idle. Didn't do this before my brilliant idea!!
You need to get it back to your tuner - it may be as simple as adding a bit of air to your base idle air flow table in the lower ECT ranges, or it could be a combination of a bunch of settings being out of whack. But, more than likely it's just needing that table adjusted. Did your tuner start with a cold motor by chance or just tune it right after you brought it to him like most do? A dude made a great setup in HPTuners, commonly referred to as the RussK file, that will log everything for your tuner and give you a pretty strong initial RAF table if he has access to your car from a cold start.
