Heads and cam 3.42 car spinning out. Get 4.10's?
Spinning tires all through 1st and 2nd. 1st spins at any throttle beyond 40%. Accelerating WOT in 2nd gear breaks loose the tires as you get to 70mph even though they were hooked at 50 and 60.
So if I get 4.10's and 295 Michelin rear tires will this get better or worse? I am trying to decide if getting the lower gears are worth it.
Now I am thinking maybe the 3.73's are plenty of gear? Or is this just because the road condition is cold and dusty now in Ct?
This same car never broke the rear end loose like this before the H & C, even in this weather.
I am real happy with this new power, but I can not even imagine those 450+rwhp cars others have! So what now? Supercar tires?

Your gear swap will make the tires spin way worse. If your going to drag race I would stick with 4.10s for all motor 346 and 3.90s for nitrous/FI 346.

:seeya Hopefully Tom Hall will see this and respond. He has recently installed 4.10 in his automatic and was thrilled with the difference. Keep in mind he is running a 422 ci motor. He said the drivability was better than when he had the 3.42's.

:iagree: My car is much more manageable with the 390s, requires no throttle to take off etc. I can spin tires easier but with more control, 342 to 373 always seemed a waste to me not much diff and the 373s are expensive. If I had had my 390s or 410s when I was just heads and cam package I may not have added the blower. I put the CCW 11.5" in the rear with 335s and that helped a lot as well (no tubbing needed) and if you have 10.5" rear wheels I would put the KD 295's they are apparently wider than mich 295s and very sticky.
