Leaks are always hard to locate. If your car is a standard transmission you should be able look through the clutch inspection window to verify if the rear main seal is leaking. I've seen leaks like that and it was coming fron the camshaft sensor.
For what its worth, I've never seen oil go forward from a rear seal leak. If u have tools try to give the oil pan bolts a little twick to see if there loose.
You will have to clean everything up to determine where the oil is coming from, hopefully it's not the rear main seal. Check the oil pressure sensor behind the intake manifold.
I agree 100% with the oil pressure sensor. I would also check on the oil filter and bypass area. A rear main or rear cover gasket is a possibility as well, but the oil pattern doesn’t really agree with that thought. I would change your oil and filter, clean it all up, throw some dye in the new oil, and see what you can find after driving it for a bit.
Forgot, Clean up brake clean Then add dye and u will most likely find ur leak. don't take nothing apart intel u pin point the leak. The oil sending unit can have major residue that looks like a leak. Tat is bitch to get to. I know some will say easy but not for a beginner. JMO DO what u want. Might be the rear valve cover gasket leaking.
Why should he change the oil?? hes probably been adding oil so its still good.
