If I take my C5 to the dealer to reset the F45, shocks inoperative, error with a Tech 2 tester will it be permanently deleted or will it return if I ever have to disconnect my battery?
The dealer may not do the F45 delete...did you change your shocks recently with non OEM ??...you disable it in the BCM and it has nothing to do with disconnecting the battery...any shop with a bi directional scan tool may do it or find someone that has a Tech 2 in your area...video below on how I did the F45 delete with my Tech 2.
Be sure to disconnect the computer dedicated to the F45 which sits in the driver side rear compartment behind a velcro piece of fabric. If reconnected after F45 delete, the car will reload F45 option and you must start over. Computer can be removed. Wire harness to the computer can be left in place simply to keep the compartment from having a hole open to the rear wheel well. Or a flat oanel can be bonded in place. I left my harness in place and just capped the sensor/shock ends while removing the sensors. I sold the computer and sensors for a few bucks to someone in need.
Thanks for a great video. Error was on the car when I bought it so I'll just assume previous owner changed shocks.
If you just see a "shocks inop" it's most likely not caused by non OEM shocks...you'd see the 80 MPH warning so you should scan for codes using the DIC...there is most likely a trouble code stored...let us know what it might be...it may be a C17XX DTC.
