I just competed the installation of my new Kirban shifter and all seemed to go well..... until I tried to start the car. When I went to fire it up I found it would not start, my dash lights started blinking, and a strange buzzing sound came out of the radio speakers. This sound,k and the blinking dash lights stayed on for about five seconds or so after I turned off the ignition and removed the ke. The starter made a clicking sound when I tried to start the car similar to a low battery charge. I turned on the headlights and they seemed OK. I have rechecked all of the plugs I unplugged when I installed the shifter. Cany anyone give me any clue as to what I need to do to get the car running.
Are you positive it is not the battery voltage? When you turn the key on, what does your dash volt gauge read? Taking the shifter out should not affect anything that would cause your symptoms.
I agree simply installing the shifter should not cause my problems. The only thing I can figure is that I someway shorted the system when plugging or unplugging the traction control, asscessories or fuel filler door when removing the console.
when the ignition is turned on the instrument lights come on and the buzzint in the radio speakers starts. After a few seconds the instruments and lights turn off. When the key is removed the buzzing continues for about 10 seconds. i'm now charging the battery to see if that helps. It does seem a little low because its charging at a fairly high rate. This is the strangest thing I've seen in awhile. Any other ideas?
Not to alarm you, But one day I was doing some minor interior cleaning with the radio on and when I shut off the car WHAM I had all kinds of bells and whistles going off!
I called the dealer and they knew exactly what it was BCM (body control module) The car needed to be towed back to the dealer to get fixed!
Do you have any other wiring under your center console. Meaning custom work that you or someone else has done? I once had similar problems when I pinched a wire that I put in for my power antenna. It's a long-shot, but if everthing is stock, I can't imagine what the problem is.
