Default Worn cam?

My 97 LS1 is rated at 345hp @ 5600 and 350 @ 4400. My last dyno runs, about 80K miles, indicate max hp @ 5700 and tq @ 4200??

Could this be an indication of a worn cam? I'm coming up on 88K miles. It runs great but idles a little rough when hot. Plugs and wires are fairly new, (less then 20K miles).

Mods are in sig. Dyno run was before adding the X-pipe and stingers.

that is typical. If you have a worn cam already, then you have some other oiling problems going on.

Those numbers do not look bad. However, you may want to think about the rev limiter being set to 6500. The HP curve on a car with bolt on mods is going to fall off some by 6500 rpm. I tried bumping it up on my car a couple of years ago since I kept hitting the 6250 rev limit when I was on the track. Once I bumped it I kept hitting the 6500 limit. Then I decided to start shifting when the tach hit 5700 and the seat of the pants acceleration was much better. Since the tach reading is slow I was probably shifting around 5900. Since then I have put the rev limiter back to 6250 and haven't been hitting it very often.

Thanks. I was thinking about shift points on the strip and was reviewing the dyno numbers. I was thinking all else being even, changing cam timing would move hp and tq numbers.

Nothing else indicates any oiling problem.

I don't have a problem bumping the rev limiter, I had it upped so I can finish the 1/4 mile with out the 3 - 4 shift. It hurts top end and ET but, improves consistancy.

Thanks for the advice.
