Default 2000 C5 Oil leak issue

Hello all. My 2000 vette was leaking pretty bad near the rear. Took it to a mechanic and they said it’s the rear main. They wrote up estimate and I said to go ahead and do the work. They replaced rear main seal, oil sender, and a bunch of other stuff. Total 2600. Got it home and the leak was still there just as bad as before. Took it back and they said it may be from the aftermarket oil can catcher. Charged 500 for new pvc and removing old parts. Leak still there. Tore it back down cause they said the rear main may have blown from the pressure from the aftermarket oil can catcher. They replaced the rear main seal again with oem seal and put it back together. Leak stilll there but did not change me anything. Now they are telling me it could be excessive end play in the engine/crankshaft or crankshaft out if round.they are bringing in a “master corvette” mechanic. Wtf. So I am 3k in and still have a leak and they said if it is an internal engine issue they don’t do that type of work. It is a Very reputable local business. Totally frustrated.

Dollars to donuts it’s your oil pressure sensor. It is located on the top of the block at the rear, behind your intake manifold. It’s a very common leak point and will often times look the same as a rear main seal leak.

Your mechanic has waisted A LOT of your money - and it damn sure isn’t crankshaft end play. I’m not sure I’ve ever read about a thrust bearing failure on a stock motor.
