Default Mold on carpets

Recently had a windshield job done. The installer didn’t seal it correctly and a lot of water got inside the car which resulted in mold growth, even though I dried the car as fast as I could.

Filing a small claims. Need to know how much a full carpet replacement will run just so I can start budgeting things out; I’m getting an estimate soon, however I’m considering ordering the parts on my own and getting someone to do the labor, as I have been doing with most repairs done to my car.

Found these aftermarket carpets so far. What do y’all think?

Additional questions to y’all:

1. How much does a job like this run?
2. Do I need new seats as well? Some mold is directly under them.
3. Is an OEM replacement the best course of action or is there an aftermarket company that produces these?
4. Where do I buy the filling that goes under the carpets?

First, I would contact your local upholstery shop to get a full quote in writing.

Second, I would reference your local court rules to find out the limit of a small claims filing. the install may exceed this amount.

Filing a lawsuit is a balance between the cost of pursuing the claim against the cost of repair.

I would also try any last ditch effort to try and negotiate to come to a resolution without the courts. Split the difference perhaps is a better result than a full win in court in light of all of the court costs, etc.

Good luck, and remember,

Happy Motoring

Thank you for the advice. The shop owner doesn’t want to cooperate at all. Went as far as saying he didn’t even do the job. So I’m definitely going to file a small claims suit. I think for ~5k it’s $150 to file here in California, not expensive.

I have almost all the documents I need already. And of course I saved the receipt

The small claims limit here is 10k, so it’ll definitely be under that. After I add the cost of parts and labor, what else do I add? Missed work days, gas, etc?

Yep, this is the best solution. You wont get "justice" but you may get your car fixed.

I’m for sure suing it’s just over a hundred bucks to file a small claims LS
