Hi Everyone, need some real good feed back. I owned an AWD mitsubishi Turbo (Modified GSX), launching the car was great. Rev it up to 5000 and drop the clutch and the car would take off like a rocket.
Now that I have the Vette (99 6spd), I launch it at 1500 to 2000 with a little playing of the clutch. Too much would light up the tires and too little would be too slow. I do OK now but want to know if theres a better technique.
Yea, get a CCW drag setup and launch like your talon AWD. Trust me, I had a 500 hp talon awd and it does'nt touch my vette with the CCW drag setup. :nonod:
I'm not the best to talk with my 60's but, I'm hoping now that I have a new clutch I can do better.
This is hard as HE double "L" on the clutch but, if you want to try it, - bring the R's up to about 4000. When you get your light, bring the clutch up as fast as possible without letting it break loose. You may have to apply more gas to keep the R's up but, if you can keep if from breaking loose and, let the clutch all the way out by the end of the 60', I think you'll cut a pretty good 60' and ET.
It will eat up stock clutches in short order. I save it for those heads up races you really want to win.

Re: launching techniques? (Smiley1)
Sounds like you are very close to getting your technique down on this car. IMO you need something along the order of what C5-Vert was suggesting - ET Streets, DR's, Nittos - something with meat - ANYTHING with meat and your launching technique will take care of itself in short order.
Of course, I'm an A4 kind've a guy, so what the hell do I know?!!!
