I have decided to replace the fuel filter in my 98. I did a search and read several threads. They were very helpful but now I have a couple more questions. First, how to I relieve the pressure in the fuel line? In my mustang, I toggled the cutoff switch and then turned the ignition to burn what little gas was left. Nobody mentioned this so I am guessing I can't do this to my vette. I also read on one of the threads that you have to do an "idle learn" after replacing the filter. Because it was only mentioned on one of the dozens of threads, I think this may either be incorrect or not necessary. Thanks again
Turn the car off, then release the pressure via the little valve on the end of the fuel rail (under the fuel rail cover). Its under a black plastic cap that unscrews. Just use a screwdriver and some towels and it'll squirt out.
The job to swap the filter is really easy. You'll need a fuel line 3/8" disconnect tool ($5-$10 at a parts store, its just a plastic ring), and thats about it. No need for idle relearn.
