Default 2003 dtc b2860 ?

I have another oddity, I have a DTC B2860 which I find is "Telescoping Column Position Sensor Failure" and it's odd as the steering wheel and the column telescoping function seems to be working fine, but what is the sensor I need to replace ? Is there a GM part # I can't seem to find it in my searches ?

Thanks,

Jim

Clear the code, go about your day or year, see if the code comes back.

The sensor is part of the telescoping actuator…looks like a big job !!…did you contact that auto electric shop ??…I’d let them look at this DTC before shotgunning this part !!

Well that is the thing, I get this B2860 code, but the telescoping column works fine ? Do I need to pull the drives seat to get at it ?

Thank you,

Check the plugs underneath your drivers seat. This is a common cause for 2860. I had this problem a few years ago. Twisted the plugs. Tighten them together and 2860 went away immediately. Hope it works for you too!

Here’s the link of a member that solved this problem. This type of post is invaluable. not sure why it was previously deleted.

I second the connector under the seat. Tightened it up and 2860 went away immediately.

you may also want to cycle your seat fully forward then fully back. 1287 is the steering sensor code. 2860 is just a wiring problem!
