The factory scoop for the radiator is sprung so that instead of dragging along the ground, it flips back to prevent damage.
The A&A supercharger's intercooler scoop is fixed and scrapes awfully. Has anyone installed a spring hinge of some kind to allow that to flip back?
I bought several pieces of ABS plastic cut to the correct size and just replace when I have broken the scoop. It shouldn't be to hard to mount the scoop with a piano type hinge and some springs, it would still scrape but not damage the scope.

Yeah, I'm OK with it scraping as long as it has some give to it, like the OEM hinged piece did. Right now, because it's completely rigid, it sounds terrible when it scrapes.
Honestly as log as you keep replacing it with a rigid material like ABS, it will most likely keep breaking regardless of a spring hinge. Some PU would be a lot more resilient and wouldn't even need a spring hinge, but it wouldn't hurt either. With that being said, my IC never had one to begin and I don't worry about it lol.

I would be curious to datalog IATs with and without it.

I'd be curious on doing it with as well, but so far all I've got is without and there's not enough of a difference from ambient to make me run out and figure out a way to make one that won't scrape everything. I do have the front license plate opened up, which helps a little of course. Oddly enough, the eBay vortex splitter I just installed pretty much acts as a sealed scoop for the IC. If it lasts to summer, I'll definitely log to see what kind of difference it makes.
I just trimmed it until it was happy. Did this before the final tune so I never saw IAT differences before then. I also trimmed the other air dam pieces by a good 1/2" since my car was lowered.
