Hi everyone, I believe I am having a leak from the power steering pump on my 01. I see there are reseal kits available but I'm having trouble finding any writeup instructions on resealing the pumps. I'm wanting to check to see if anyone knows of any? Thanks.
For as much of a pain in the *** as it is to R&R the power steering pump just get a top quality regalement and use your old one as a core.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I just wanted to get a feel for how bad the reseal would be. I definitely want a good quality pump if I have to do a replacement. What's a good replacement brand for a C5? Thanks.

Why would you bail on this so quickly just because one or 2 people said not to with ZERO context? Do it yourself, learn something, and save a buck. R&R'ing a pump is not that big a deal and the pumps at the parts store are all garbage.

Yes, I'd rather do a reseal on my original pump myself so that's why I wanted to see some instructions to make a decision. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Update - Hi everyone, seems I lucked out with my power steering pump being the leak problem on my C5. It's actually the steering rack and pinion. I'm in the camp that I'd rather try a rebuild on my original unit. I'll submit a thread to solicit for a rack and pinion rebuild. Thanks.
I meannnnnnn, how confident are you in rebuilding? Lack of Google'age write ups should be a key indicator lol When I had my shop, I replaced plenty of customer rebuilt parts on a weekly basis I'm all about learning and giving a go at things as we USED to be a country who BUILT things. But these days, time and effort have to be considered in the equation. I WOULD have the rack rebuilt and PURCHASE a new power steering pump to boot. Dont even THINK about putting the old PS pump back in with your rebuilt rack. None of the rebuilders I've ever used will honor their warranty if you do. So if you are partial to the PS pump...send the rack AND the PS into the SAME rebuilder.
I have my PS pump out of the car right now, and I have a seal kit, intending to give it a go. But I do have a new Cardone pump to install. I'll keep the rebuilt factory pump as a backup.
