Default Putting input shaft back into clutch

Hello, I am finally done with my clutch job, and I am now trying to insert the input shaft side of the driveshaft into the clutch. The torque tube had about 5 more inches to go until it can be bolted to the bell housing. I am having a very hard time getting the input shaft to go into the clutch. Any pointers for tips for this? Thank you, much appreciated!!!!!

when i was pitting my car back together from my clutch job, i remember my TT was also not going in until i realized that the cheap plastic clutch alignment tool did not align my clutch correctly.

i then bought a nice machined metal alignment tool and re-aligned it and the shaft slid right in

this was the piece i used

5in's is a long way from the input shaft aligning with the pilot bearing. Which is usually the worst of the alignment. Couple extra hands and double check that the clutch disk didn't get moved somehow.

I have decent luck with the plastic tools, but I always lift on them just a smidge and eyeball the clutch assembly to verify it's centered. If you use the plastic tool and gravity and don't check it, it isn't gonna work. But if you're off by 5" you're not even that far yet.

I agree, 5" is a ways off. 1-2" may be a "clutch disc is off center".

Make sure something else isn't bound up.
