What issue are you trying to fix? As stated above it isn't a problem with the fuse. You may be suffering from HUD drop. There is also the brightness slider that you can use to turn the off.
Thanks C5 diag for your quick response. The problem started after I took the dash apart to replace the HUD Bezel. My HUD wasn't working also, I found out it wasn't plugged in. I installed a "low mileage" HUD while I had the dash apart and it worked fine when I tested it. The problem is the battery goes dead after setting for a few hrs.
I know some of the electronics will function with the ignition off and the key out, do you know what my amp draw should be under these conditions? I feel a previous owner may have unplugged the HUD when he had the problem I'm experiencing.
The battery should not go dead after a few hours…completely dead is around 10.5 volts…fully charged is 12.66…normal current draw is around 25 milliamps once all the modules go to sleep.
I'm at 5.4 amps with the key out and the battery goes down to 4-5 volts.
The big thing is that the more the battery discharges it will considerably shorten its service life…watch the video and with your DVOM you can test each fuse…initially you can remove the B+ cable off your alternator…if you have a bad diode it can cause a parasitic drain…video below !!
both fuse boxes have the fuse layout and applicable circuit on a sticker in the fuse box covers. Learn those fuse locations for what is in the engine bay fuse box and passenger footwell fuse box. It will save you a lot of time in the future for quick checks-
The draw is in "Body control module-ignition 1 instrument control panel" fuse 25. as suggested by the fact the HUD was unplugged and the thoughtful drawing sent by C5 diag. I have another switch to try and hopefully I can do the replacement without tearing the complete dash out. Thank you for everyone's input........what a great site.
Can I remove the inst. cluster bezel without tearing the dash apart? I've removed the 2 fasteners but it doesn't want to come off and I don't want to damage any thing while trying to get at the HUD switch.
