Default Heat killing reverse light switch?

Reverse lights started acting erratically last year after 2 track days. They would either come on by themselves (while in any gear!) or not at all when in reverse. Replaced the switch (August 2022) and all was well. Yesterday after my last track session of the day the same thing started happening! This switch has been through 2 track days and 2 or 3 autocross events. Are these switches sensitive to heat?

You may want to replace that section of harness as an inexpensive verification. I didn't have the reverse light switch go, but I did have my reverse lockout solenoid go. I replaced that for $70 and the issue returned. I traced it back up as far as I could fit a stripper, added a butt, heat shrunk it twice and check rided it and the issue has not returned.

Conversely. A lot of voodoo in these cars comes from the grounds. Refresh all of your grounds. Clean them up. Coat them with no-ox-id.

Hmm I redid the engine ground points but not the rest. Should take care of that. Good call on checking the harness for the switch!

Figured it out. Fuse 21 was blown. Did some digging and the backup camera's positive wire had fallen on the driver's side muffler and shorted out. My lazy and rushed installation is to blame. Zip tied the wire to the harness that's back there and replaced the fuse. All is well!
