I have stock runflats on the rear with 9/5" MAG wheel. I would like some input on the widest tire on stock rim to use,and the best brand to use. I CAN USE ANY HELP. I am in the same boat as you (no traction) I recently installed H/C and all the bolt on's. I am afraid run flats and good traction don't mix especially when you have a alot of power. The best tire would be a 315 Nitto Drag Radial they give decent durability and good traction. The BFG 315 DRs will give you even better traction but will not last nearly as long as Nitto's all things being equal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those drag radials 17"? And not well suited for regular street use?

If you need/want to keep the stock rim, you can squeeze a 295/35/18 on them, although it's not ideal, people have done it. A BFG G-force KD will probably be the best street tire for dry traction.

ANYTHING is better than the stock runflats though. :D

They're fine on the street as long as you take it easy and there's some tread left on them.

You are right of course, however BFG is supposed to come out with an 18 inch drag radial shortly.

I have been driving on my 315 BFG drag radials with no problems. They don't handle too bad in the snow either :yesnod:

Jim, sometimes you can put the biggest tires on a car and not get traction in the lower gears. In those cases its all about modulating the throttle to get optimal traction. Maybe a set of slicks and skinnies for the 1/4 mile would help you out?

Best of luck to you and your quest for traction. :)

No matter what "regular" tire you use for the street, if you're using the stock 9.5" rims, you're not going to get any traction if you nail it. You can squeeze the 295/35/18's on those rims, and still, unless you feather your throttle, you'll spin the heck out of them. Just a fact of life. I'm using the 295/35/18 pilot sports and they don't stick either.

For the strip, try the ET Streets. On my car, when they get good and warm, they stick great. They were a major factor in putting me into the 11's.

Wait for the 18" BFG DR or the Nitto 18" DR due out this spring..otherwise go with the BFG KD's...Just my .02:D

Maybe I need to widen mag wheels from 9'5 to 11" and go with a bigger tire. C5JIM
