Default C5 no Fan, no A/C

Hi everyone, been a while, sidelined with health issues again, but Good News to report, along with a problem with A/C & Fan. Just bought a NEW 2003 50th Anniversary Coupe with only 383 Miles on it from the widow of the man who bought new only to go through cancer treatments for over 15 years. All of the normal refresh service was done before the sale including new injectors. I replaced the tire’s with new Eagles. The car runs & drives great. Took it out for a cruise yesterday and found that the A/C would not come on & neither would the fan. I have checked fuse 51 inch footwell and fuses 24,46,48 under the hood, all tested good. I would appreciate knowing what the next logical steps would be. I am however limited to what I can do with my disabilities from Viet Nam & recent injuries so I may have to take to a local trustworthy shop to have done. Maybe someone in eastern North Carolina like Byron Hunter who is close by could help, with my Thanks. It is the ventilation fan with or without A/C does not come on. With engine running I push A/C Auto button it lights up for few seconds then goes off. No matter what temp is set, no fan no pump running. Same with fresh air or heat no fan. Note the cooling engine fans work just fine. I hope this clarifies the issue..Sorry so long!

I’m looking at a 2001 schematic but G102 (ground behind RH headlight bucket) is the common ground for both the AC Clutch and the Cooling Fans…if you have a 12 volt test light you can check those grounds but probing a terminal on both Clutch Relay 34 and Cooling Fan Relay 34.

Thanks for the reply quick response and the schematics. Just got home from car club meeting, will check it out tomorrow. I’m thinking this might be related to the car sitting all those years with a dead battery or perhaps unwelcome visitors. Scary thoughts! I was hoping that we were buying a car to cruise in and just keep it nice, so I want to get this sorted out and do that. Thanks again.

…or it may be 2 separate issues…you may have to diagnose each one separately.

I just had a similar issue with my 2003, no air from any vents, and blower motor wouldn’t kick on. The solution? Take off the passenger bottom cover under the glove box and hit the blower motor with a hammer, it came back up like magic, voilà!

Is it the blower motor fan or radiator cooling fan inop ??…if you say “fan” I’m thinking of radiator fans.
