Default Corvette C5 Year 2000 | Bad harmonic balancer?

Hey! I was wondering if someone can help me find out whether my harmonic balancer is going bad or already is. I have noticed that there is quite a bit of wobble going on with the belt. I have attached a video.

Yeah that looks pretty bad, I'd have that high on the list of things to do if you can see it that much!

The video is good but tough as what you need is a "side" shot of the engine and focus on the balancer itself. You are looking for the balancer to wobble as you look at it from the side. Head on will tell you nothing.

Also, take some paint and put a line from the inside of the balancer to the outer hub. This cover the metal and the rubber. Drive it a bit and see if the lines separates. If the lines separates, then your hub is shifting and need a replacement.

Yup, time for a replacement. Go with a decent aftermarket option rather than OEM. It wouldn't be a bad idea to pin it to the crank if you have plans for any power adders in the future.

Another vote for replacement! Do it sooner than later, or major problems to be had (oil pan or steering rack)!

Thats a bad one. Replace it with something other than AC DELCO unless you want to have the same issue again in a few years.

Thank you all for the fast replies! I have already ordered a new balancer and a bolt for it. Now gotta prepare for the hard work needed to fix it

Will do that asap, while waiting for the new balancer. So I know that it is safe for driving

If your crank bolt is anything like mine, might want to loosen-up, do some curls, etc....

I just drove for 4 hours and the line did not separate. The only kinda new thing that appeared is a slight squeaking noise coming from the balancer`s area. Nothing more wobbly or unusual tho. Wondering what that could be.

The brand of the balancer is DORMAN (594115 from RockAuto), and I also ordered a new bolt for it.

This is the video showing the new squeaking sound. I am wondering is it the belt or some pulley going bad.

Since you are changing the Balancer already, I'd replace all the belts, tensioners and pulleys. Clean the pulleys grooves that are not being changed with isopropyl alcohol and a brush to remove contaminates. I just bought and installed the Gates both kits on my car. Zero noise/squeaks. Might want to think about a water pump as well since you are that far into it. If nothing else check the weep hole on the bottom WP shaft for signs of leakage.

I see your in Bulgaria. Do you guys have amazon? Might be less expensive for shipping?
Summit makes good tools to remove and install the Balancer if you cannot procure locally.

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually ordered new pulleys and tensioners, as well as new belts. We dont have amazon, but when I order from RockAuto the shipments come in 3-4 days with DHL. Was very surprised the first time I ordered from rockauto
