I have changed knock sensor s twice and Iight still continues to come on!! And they are not aftermarket!! I have checked the wire connection’s to ensure that everything is perfect and if there is anything might be defective!! as it is very time consuming to keep pulling it apart !! Any idea’
How exactly did you check to make sure the wiring is perfect ??…if only a visual inspection that’s not how it done…you’ll have to check the wiring harness from the sensor back to the PCM as in the video…did you use a torque wrench to tighten both sensors ??
No i didn’t use a torque wrench for the sensor install. I was not aware there was a certain torque needed for them to work properly!! I didn’t have the issue with the code before i changed them!! I did the change as preventative as i needed to change the rear check valve and did the oil sending kit as well
.
There is a TSB of which a part is shown below concerning these knock sensors and the torque is 15 foot pounds…this is more of a rear sensor knock code and is due to water intrusion to the rear one caused by washing of the engine compartment…they also want you to build an RTV dam around the rear sensor as shown.
AC Delco knock sensors have been sucking @$$ lately, assuming that's what you went with. Myself and a variety of others here on the forums in the last year or 2 have had persistent CEL and knock sensor fault codes with new AC Delco sensors. Solution: buy NAPA Echlin DKS238 knock sensors.
