Could cold weather affect column lock and pull key message?

see that post for full details but basically I have been getting the pull key message every start lately in this very cold weather and then it says service column lock, and will cut ignition if I move car, column never locks though as it cant since hte dealer removed the pin. :confused: any ideas as haveing to start the car 3 times to get going is getting old real fast :mad

Thats weird because I have had it happen when it was extremely hot. :confused: :confused:
