I have a 1998 Vette with a bad Body Control Module. I have a remanufactured BCM but it needs flashing. So far I haven't been able to find anyone, shop or individual, close to me who can flash it with my cars VIN and other info. Even Bill Cramer Chevrolet tells me they no longer have the software to do this. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Your dealership is yanking your chain !!…they should be able to program your BCM...there is no “software” that is needed…the software comes from the GM Website…try Diagnostic Tune and Auto Air in Panama City…video is for a C6 but still the same…Beach Auto Care does programming.

I called Beach Auto Care. They said they "think" they can do it. Cost $299 and a two week wait to get an appointment.
I also tried Diagnostic Tune and A/C Repair, they said they are unable to do it. They further told me that to do it, you need a "good" bidirectional scan tool such at a Tech II, plus the cable to connect the tool to a laptop, plus a subscription to to GM Programming Software for the laptop, plus a subscription for the GM Dataset for the software that covers GM Vehicles from 1997 thru 1999 vehicles. Both of these together run about $1200 / per year, and there is no per use, or per month option.
At this point, I am thinking I will be better off looking around Tallahassee or Pensacola or maybe finding a programming service online and shipping it to them...
If Diagnostic Tune does do reflashing and has a Cardaq (below) and a J2534 cable they really don’t need the Tech 2 and the hardware to hook to their laptop and connect to the GM website…they don’t need any annual subscription I know of…I’d see if the other shop can do it
Well, I never found anyone close to me that could "program" the new BCM...
Turns, out, I didn't need to. Out of desperation, I replaced the BCM myself.
After replacing the BCM, everything seemed normal except neither key would work.
I went thru the procedure to "train" a new replacement key, (Not the FOB) where you turn the ignition to the on position without cranking it for 10 minutes, then off for 30 seconds, then repeat for total of 3 times...
After doing this, it fired right up and has performed flawlessly for 3 days now!!
