Default window motor stopped working

The passenger window in my 99 coupe recently stopped working. I can hear the relay clicking when I press the button. Is it worth replacing just the motor or the motor/ regulator assembly altogether?

The motors get stuck sometimes and hitting it should fix it. Or else replace the whole thing. The regulators are what commonly break so get new ones now.

As long as you have your door apart, I'd think putting in both a new motor and regulator assembly would make sense.

Before replacing anything, try this method. Sometimes the window gets 'locked' because of lack of use.

I agree with trying this.^^^ The first time I did it, I pulled the door card and tapped the motor with a screw driver while holding the down button. That lasted the full season. The next spring, after hibernation, I tried the rubber mallet to the bottom of the door. It has been working flawlessly for over 10 years without any further coercion. I installed a Window Valet and cycle my windows several times a week to let the heat out of the car on hot days. During the winter, it hibernates with no interaction.

Most any mechanical device will atrophy without regular use. One reason so many garage queens have so many issues when they're finally used as intended....

You got me thinking about how much time my car has sat in a garage. Assuming 3 months per year due to being in the north and 19 years, that is 57 months. I also didn't drive it for a year due to living circumstances driven by covid. That is almost 6 YEARS! I need to start driving more. I have another 18k mile to go before I have put half of the miles on the car.
