Default brake pads

I've noticed that a lot of people recommend Hawk brand brake pads for the C5. I'm going to have to replace the rear pads on my '02 Coupe soon. Which Hawk pads are recommended for a street-only C5? I don't hammer it but I do drive aggressively at times and stop the same way sometimes. Looking around, it appears there are several types of Hawk pads.
Also, if I put Hawk brand on the back, should I replace the front at the same time with Hawk? In other words, are the Hawk pads that much better than stock that putting a set on the back could cause a problem if I don't also replace the front with Hawk?
My rotors are in good shape front and rear so I won't be replacing them at this time.
Thanks in advance.

Tried Hawks on the rear, squealed incessantly. Tried all the usual techniques to quiet them — switching to others worked.

I have Hawk HPS pads on my 2004 C5 and like them. No noise, no pulsing, great cold bite. Dust about like oem. I'd replace all your pads at the same time.

When you put them on, did you also replace rotors? I'm wondering how they would do with old (but good) rotors.

I put them on using my original rotors. I talked to Hawk and they said the pad material is totally compatible with the pad material in the oem pads. I did not sand or resurface the rotors in any manner. I bedded them according to their instructions and am totally pleased with them. I have not had them on the track (although I did some HPD events on the oem pads) but I feel confident they will perform at least as well. I have tried them out on some of the curvy roads where I live and have not experienced any fade. (I run Castrol SRF or their new stuff for brake fluid.)
