I'm looking to install a racing seat in my Z06 and would like to mount it on a stock slider set-up. Does anyone know if GM has ever offered a manual seat on the drivers side?
When I got this FRC it had black power seats. I pulled the red manual seats out of the previous FRC and swapped out the seats between the cars.
The switch was a simple bolt-in. The floorboard holes are the same for both seats and the mounting rails & motor go with the seat. Both seats plugged into the same outlet underneath and the power seat worked fine in the car that originally didn't have power seats so I will assume that the power seats will plug into any C5 and work.
I didn't get any error codes on my DIC either after making the switch.
Don't know about Cajun's, but my '00 FRC has manual seats. Frankly, I like them better than the power seats. Only thing I wish I had in mine was the telescoping steering wheel, mainly so my 5'3" wife could get the placement better for her.
Cajun, If I understand you correctly you pulled a manual drivers seat out of a FRC. What year was the car?
Yes...my previous red FRC already had new Torch Red manual seats in it when I bought from a forum member in NY. I wrecked that car eight months later :smash:
I bought the white FRC from another forum member in TN and it had the stock black power driver's seat. They were OK seats but on the trip back to New Orleans I decided to contact the insurance company to see if I could swap out interior pieces between the cars before they auctioned off the wrecked FRC and they agreed (I had wanted to convert the red cars interior to mod-red instead of all black before it got wrecked and wanted to do the same in the white one).
I showed up at the auction yard with my tools and swapped the seats out on their property. Was a piece of cake.
