We have a motor being built right now for a 96 Impala SS. Its a LS1 block with a 4.125 bore 4.250 stroke 454 cid. The heads are 6.0L truck heads with 2.10 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves. And a Weiland intake port matched to the heads and all we have left to choose is cam.
Is it a daily driver no. Big stall, no n20 just motor powah! LEts here some solid roller specs. Will have head flow numbers by the end of the month. Shooting for 540 RWHP through a auto in a 4400 lb car!
And anyone know of any really good custom header builders in the houston area?
Here is a pic of the current motor in the car its a LS6 headed 382 Ls1. Soon to be in my 99 FRC.
Who is making the crank? I know that Lunati, Cola, and Scat do not make a 4.225" stroke crank. Plus on a 4.125" bore block, there will be major clearance issues with the rods. Also there is not enough deck height for pistons. Max rod/stroke combo is 4.125" x 6.125" to leave any compression height on the pistons. Hate to say it, but is sounds like :bs:
Actualy it has been done.. I know forum member 448pacecar has a custom lunati 4.250" stroke crank in his car with 4.100" bore which works out to 448. I am not sure how successful his motor was. All I know is that MTI built it for him and he has had that crankshaft for quite awhile because he used to be 408pacecar before he went with more bore from a resleeved aluminum block.
