Default Front End Alignment>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I am getting a front end alignment Friday on my 1998 vette. My question is about the camber settings. The inside 2 inches of both tires on the front are cuppng and wearing faster than the rest. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so, would it be ok to put less camber in the front tires to stop the wear or slow it down. Also, would I need to adjust the caster differently from factory settings to make up for the non-factory camber settings. Thanks.

Better to wait and see what is wrong first. Your condition is I believe more likely to be caused by excessive toe-out than by camber. I'm sure someone will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong though!!

Somebody posted some new alignment specs a little while ago. You might run a search on alignment specs.

This question was covered in the fall 02 Corvette Quarterly FAQ column. What they answered basically was that the Corvettes front alignment was a compromise between handling and wear, and with a large amount of highway driving that is not balanced with a comparable amount of cornering inner rib wear may develop. The camber should be reset as close to 0 degrees as possible. Factory setting is -0.25 degrees +/-0.50degrees. No mention was made of changing the caster settings. Hope this helps. I'm thinking of having my camber changed in the spring when I take my car out of hibernation.
