Mystery Charge Fault Error-Partly Solved
Now here is what I do know:
Valeo alternator tested great at an alternator rebuild shop
Battery is brand new and I thought that might've been the issue after sitting for 2 weeks but I replaced it and same thing.
In terms of the wiring diagram PIN D or the "S terminal" wire coming out of the alternator connector is reading 0 volts with the key out and with the key on, from my understanding its always supposed to be hot. I stuck a lead in the wire and the other to a ground and got 0.
My starter is original, and the nuts/ lugs look slightly corroded, it is already pulled and am planning on replacing the starter/ cleaning the connections.
My current plan of action and theory is, if the S terminal wire on the connector (closest one to the engine) is reading 0 volts that means that the fusible link is bad (small red wire that switches to a gray color at the starter). I am planning on just leaving the old wire disconnected and splicing in a new fusible link for the S terminal wire going to the starter.
Am I missing anything or misinformed?
Seems that even the low cost blue tooth OBD2 scanners will report system voltage live (although by no means should you be looking at the phone while driving) which would be an interesting comparison.
